The Canberra City Band, under Keith Helgesen, premiered Fanfare for Santa Barbara Harbor at an airshow at Temora, Australia, on November 27. The Truman State University Brass Choir, under Dr. Jay Bulen, presented the North American premiere in concert on Dec. 1.

No! George! No!

Beati Quorum Via preview

The Choir of Christ Episcopal Church, under Nancy Kern, presented a preview performance of Beati Quorum Via during the 10 a.m. service on Sun., Oct. 30, 2005. The Choir will present the concert premiere of the piece on Feb. 15, 2006.

Suite from Razumov recorded for CD
by the Kiev Philharmonic


Suite from Razumov was recorded in February 2005 by members of the Kiev Philharmonic for release on the "Masterworks of the New Era" CD series issued by ERM Media. The CD was released on July 25, 2005. You may purchase the CD here.

The piece for clarinet and string quartet was premiered October 21, 2003, at Town Hall, Seattle, by the odeonquartet and Sean Osborn, clarinet. It received its second performance on the SyZyGy contemporary chamber music concert series in Ashland, Oregon, on January 15, 2005.

The Ars Brunensis Chorus's recording of Bartholomew's three settings for unaccompanied choir of text From the Odes of Solomon is included in a CD released by Capstone Records in August 2005. Purchase the CD here.

The Macquarie University Singers, under the direction of Margot McLaughlin, presented the Australian premiere of From Ode 14 of the Odes of Solomon on August 13, 2005, at Macquarie Theatre, Ryde, NSW Australia.

Sunday, February 12, 2006, at 4 pm
CONCORA, "Connecticut's premiere professional choir," under the direction of Richard Coffey, will be perform The 21st Century (A Girl Born in Afghanistan) on Sunday, February 12, 2006, in a concert entitled "The Consort of Voices: Songs and Stories of Liberation." The concert honor will the birth of President Abraham Lincoln through music of liberty, freedom, and the affirmation of human dignity. Story-teller Valerie Tutson will captivate listeners of all ages at Charter Oak Cultural Center before the concert, and will appear during the concert as well. In addition to The 21st Century, the concert will include works by Samuel Barber, Pablo Casals, Aaron Copland, Libby Larsen, Michael Tippett, and James MacMMillan.

West Coast Premieres
in Seattle & Tacoma

The Seattle Bach Choir, under the direction of Dr. Gregory Vancil, presented the West Coast premiere of The 21st Century (A Girl Born in Afghanistan) as part of their War and Remembrance concert series on March 5, 2005, in West Seattle, and on March 6, 2005, in Tacoma, Washington.

Indiana Premiere
at Ball State University

The Ball State University Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Carter, presented The 21st Century (A Girl Born in Afghanistan) in concert on February 27, 2005, at Sursa Performance Hall, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Listen to their performance.

Acappellago brings A Rainy Day
to Illinois

Acappellago, a chamber choir under the direction of Dennis Smith performing a cappella choral music in the western suburbs of Chicago, presented A Rainy Day on April 9 & 10, 2005, in North Aurora and Naperville, Illinois.

A Rainy Day is dedicated to the composer's mother and was premiered in January 2004 by the Arkansas State University Women's Chorus.

Midwest premiere of The Tree
in Chicago & Evanston

Coriolis, a chamber ensemble under the direction of Gregg Skalinder, performed The Tree on May 14 and 15, 2005, in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois. Listen to their performance.

Third ASCAP Award!

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers has recently recognized Greg Bartholomew with his third ASCAP Standard Award for the 2004/2005 performances of his music.

String Trio for George Crumb at Chicago's Green Mill

Accessible Contemporary Music presented Bartholomew's "String Trio for George Crumb" on April 10, 2005, as part of a new music concert series at The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Chicago's finest jazz club.

The String Trio was commissioned by the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium in honor of American composer George Crumb on the occasion of his 75th birthday, and was premiered at the Festival by The Third Angle New Music Ensemble in July 2004.
