The Tree goes on tour

The American University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Daniel Abraham, took The Tree on tour during October 2004 to Toronto, Niagara-on-the-Falls, Buffalo, Fredonia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg & Shippensburg, with a pre-tour concert in Washington, DC.


String Trio for George Crumb commissioned for 2004 Oregon Bach Festival

In celebration of the 75th birthday of American composer George Crumb, the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium commissioned several new works to be premiered on three concerts on July 2 and 3, 2004, by Third Angle New Music Ensemble at the Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene, Oregon. Greg Bartholomew was commissioned to write a string trio for violin, viola and cello. Bartholomew's "String Trio for George Crumb" was premiered in concert at10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Beall Hall, at the University of Oregon, Eugene.


Song of the Mountains premiered at Benaroya Hall

For a benefit concert in support of Gilda's Club, the Seattle Composers Alliance commissioned six area composers to create new works for six area high school choirs and orchestras. Greg Bartholomew set text by 19th Century American naturalist John Muir in a new work entitled Song of the Mountains for mixed choir with piano accompaniment. The Combined Choirs of St. Joseph's School, under the direction of Rick Boyle, presented the premiere performance on May 6, 2004, at the Nordstrom Recital Hall in Benaroya Hall, Seattle, as the finale for the Second Annual New Works New Hope benefit concert.


NPR broadcast From the Odes of Solomon on April 25, 2004

The nationally syndicated NPR program "Theme & Variations," hosted by Will Everett, broadcast the Ars Brunensis Chorus's recording of Bartholomew's From Odes 1 & 3 of the Odes of Solomon and From Ode 17 of the Odes of Solomon on April 25, 2004. Listen to the recording.


The Tree premiered by American University Chamber Singers

The American University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Daniel Abraham, presented the premiere performances of The Tree on April 2 and 3, 2004, at the Greenberg Theatre, Washington, DC, in their concert entitled "Words Wed to Music."


A Country Boy in Winter
premiered at Society of Composers National Conference

Bartholomew's setting for men's chorus of "A Country Boy in Winter" was premiered at the Society of Composers' National Conference at 8pm on Friday, March 5, 2004, at Central Oklahoma University, in Edmond, Oklahoma.


A Rainy Day premiered in Jonesboro, Arkansas

The Arkansas State University Women's Chorus, under the direction of Dale Miller, presented the premiere performance of A Rainy Day on January 30, 2004, at the Fowler Center, Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the Society of Composers Region 6 Conference. Listen to the concert performance.
